Madeleina Kay

Madeleina Kay is a British artist, writer, musician and political activist. Awarded ‘Young European of the Year 2018’, she is known as #EUsupergirl for her creative campaigning for Europe.

 

Madeleina won the ‘Young Talent Prize’ in the ‘Great British Postcard Competition’ in September 2017 for her illustrated book’s front cover design: ‘Theresa Maybe in Brexitland‘.

She was one of the winners of the EU Commission’s #EUinMyRegion blogging competition, in October 2017.

Madeleina’s #24ReasonstoRemain campaign was shortlisted for the EU’s Altiero Spinelli prize for outreach in 2019.

She was awarded a #DemocracyNeedsImagination grant by the European Cultural Foundation  in 2019 to complete her #TheFutureisEurope tour of the EU28

Madeleina was awarded the UK Charlemagne Youth Prize in 2020 for her project ‘The Future is Europe‘.

She was awarded the ‘Framing Brexit: EU IDEA Visual Award’ in 2020 for her ‘Brexiles’ portrait project.

Madeleina was awarded 2nd prize in the ‘Upfront! Young European Video Award’ in 2021

She has written, illustrated and self-published eight books between 2016 – 2020.

Madeleina is a singer/song-writer and has performed at events across the UK and Europe, including the National Justice Museum in the UK, Yo! Fest in Strasbourg and Open’er Festival in Gdansk in 2018, and at Glastonbury and at the Nikolaikirche Museum, Berlin in 2019.
